Congratulations to all those who raced at the Women’s Head on Saturday 3rd March, which took place in good conditions (following a bit of a downpour as the crews were boating to warm up!), albeit with the usual headwind and some rather choppy water in the final section from Hammersmith Bridge. There was some great racing, and some close results for the Senior Women’s squad crews, who finished 24th, 33rd and 41st respectively, with just 4.5 seconds separating the second and third VIIIs. This illustrates the great depth in the senior group at the moment, and bodes well for the summer, after what will no doubt be some close seat racing over the next few weeks to select crews for the summer racing season.
The Masters Women’s squad also fielded an eight, which put in a good performance and finished 131st, beating a significant number of “A” crews from other clubs.
Many thanks also to those members who came down to help out on the day with serving tea and coffee to the officials who are based at Ibis / MAA for the race, and cheered the racing crews on from the bank.
