MAABC on Gloriana

On Sunday 24th September the sun shone for MAABC’s outing on the Queen’s Rowbarge Gloriana, created to mark her Diamond Jubilee. Some 19 rowers and a dozen passengers assembled as per organiser Peter Robert’s instructions on the dot of 10am (well give or take 25 minutes), all successfully clad in MAA kit (though of varying era and number of layers). MAABC appoints Valentin Piticariu as head coach

Mortlake Anglian & Alpha Boat Club (MAABC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Valentin Piticariu as the Director of Rowing for MAABC for the start of the upcoming 2017/18 season in September 2017. Valentin will lead the current team of experienced voluntary coaches at MAABC, whilst adding significant experience from his own international level rowing career and subsequent coaching activity. Recently Valentin coached at Team Keane for the past three years, running and leading groups from inexperienced beginners through to competitive racing groups. Training Camp 2017: Lads on Tour

On April 1, a group of Mortlake rowers and coaches headed across the Channel for a week of intensive training in the French rowing haven of Brive-la-Gaillarde. This is their story. Never heard of Brive? Don’t worry, most people not born there haven’t either. According to Brive’s Wikipedia page, it is famous for being associated with a song by popular French singer Georges Brassens, and for having excellent rowing facilities at the local lake, Lac-du-Casse. 2017 membership payable monthly

We have been listening to your requests for the payment of subs by monthly instalments. At our Committee meeting last week, we agreed that from January 2017 we will accept monthly payments by bank standing order. If you choose to pay your subscription (and, if appropriate, racking fee and/or locker rental) by this method then the first payment will take place at the end of February and there will be ten monthly payments. At the AGM it was confirmed that subs for 2017 would remain at £450 (the same as the 2015 level), with a £25 surcharge for payment after Jan 31st. [...]
