Happy Easter to you all

Has Spring sprung yet?  I think it is trying although the forecast for the weekend as usual covers every scenario.  As ever, the club seems extremely busy.  We have the Boat Race Circus rumbling in this week – can all members be as considerate as possible whilst enjoying the publicity of our lovely club on the TV.  Make sure you tell friends to watch and advertise our club. Thank you to members to helped clear the lawn immensely appreciated.   Last weekend saw the culmination of the various 8’s head.  Congratulations to our neighbours QBC who had  spectacular results in [...]

Anna Roots – Memorial Concert

Starz Watterson, a former member of MAA, moved to Germany 3 years ago to study piano.  Subsequently, about 10 months before Anna died, Anna and Sarah Ulliott (aka Scrasey), previous MAA Captain, visited Starz in Germany. Starz is soon returning to visit the UK in April and will be giving a charity piano recital at St Mary's church in Putney on 22nd April at 7.30pm in Anna's memory.  Part of the aim of the recital is to raise funds for the charity that Anna was cycling for when she died and there is therefore a recommended minimum donation of £10. There [...]

All of which on the day were not particularly accurate thank you BBC. Always a headache for the organising committee which was located at MAABC I am always amazed at the amount of volunteers who get this iconic event underway thank you all. In particular Giselle and her team of catering volunteers who slaved away all day – thank you so much. We [...]

Captains Message – FANTASTIC WEEKEND 7-8 November

Fellow Members, When I went to the Club on Saturday morning I looked out at the Thames and thought not a cat in Hell's chance of seeing our marvellous girls finally showing what they are capable of - here is a secret I even booked to see James Bond film in the afternoon so convinced of my judgement that the race would be cancelled (members may wish to note) So when I watched the crews take off in the most inclement conditions my jaw hit the deck !! I was worried .... But how wrong I was what a fabulous [...]
