Kirsty Durman: Running London Marathon

Club member Kirsty Durman will be running the London Marathon to raise money for Mind, a charity supporting people living with mental health problems and their families. The charity provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem, campaigning to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. Anna Roots – Memorial Concert

Starz Watterson, a former member of MAA, moved to Germany 3 years ago to study piano.  Subsequently, about 10 months before Anna died, Anna and Sarah Ulliott (aka Scrasey), previous MAA Captain, visited Starz in Germany. Starz is soon returning to visit the UK in April and will be giving a charity piano recital at St Mary's church in Putney on 22nd April at 7.30pm in Anna's memory.  Part of the aim of the recital is to raise funds for the charity that Anna was cycling for when she died and there is therefore a recommended minimum donation of £10. Weekend sculling group

A new Weekend sculling group has formed and it is open to anyone who wants to go out at set times in a group structure.  The aim of this group is to put in mileage on the water in singles with intermittent coaching with the added safety of going out together. There is a basic requirement for sculling competency: scullers must be able to get to the Pink House and back ‘comfortably’ in a single. Fours Head of the River 1 November 2014

MAABC had two entries in this years Fours Head of the River Race, both racing WIM1 4x. Having raced together at the Brit Champs, Beks Edgar, Emily Walters, Caris Marsh and Annabel Headley took to the water again and had a great race finishing 6th in their category out of 42 entries in a time of 20.31.5.  They also finished 10th fastest overall women's crew. Pairs Head presentation

The Pairs head presentation was held at Barnes Bridge Ladies Boat Club on Sunday 19 October.  The pots and trophies were presented by Olympic medalist Debbie Flood. Anna, Kat, Laura and Caroline were there to receive their pots and plaques for WB2x and WD2x. Fran Rawlins who used to row for MAABC and now rows for Leander was awarded The Amy Gentry Trophy together with Debbie Flood for the fastest women's double scull.  Fran also won this trophy last year.
