On April 1, a group of Mortlake rowers and coaches headed across the Channel for a week of intensive training in the French rowing haven of Brive-la-Gaillarde. This is their story. Never heard of Brive? Don’t worry, most people not born there haven’t either. According to Brive’s Wikipedia page, it is famous for being associated with a song by popular French singer Georges Brassens, and for having excellent rowing facilities at the local lake, Lac-du-Casse. Hi all Good morning I trust you are all well – dodging the various showers etc. Activity at the club is now focussing on the 8’s head projects which as usual seem to come round faster and faster each year. After a bit of time off the air waves as we had Christmas and New Year and horrible water. However painful it must be for all of you, I am back with my ramblings and observations as there is much activity going on at MAABC including some news about mixed crew racing - firstly, you may have noticed that we are continuing to tidy up the boating area and fleet, we have said goodbye to the Phoebe Mason and that has gone to Putney High School – we will be focusing on the outside racks to tidy up the boats. We have been listening to your requests for the payment of subs by monthly instalments. At our Committee meeting last week, we agreed that from January 2017 we will accept monthly payments by bank standing order. If you choose to pay your subscription (and, if appropriate, racking fee and/or locker rental) by this method then the first payment will take place at the end of February and there will be ten monthly payments. At the AGM it was confirmed that subs for 2017 would remain at £450 (the same as the 2015 level), with a £25 surcharge for payment after Jan 31st. [...]
Adjustments continue to be made to the draw that was published on Monday. There is a document linked from the regatta's web page that contains the details of the specific changes that have taken place. A full replacement draw and race timetable will be posted on Thursday evening.
