MAABC had two entries in this years Fours Head of the River Race, both racing WIM1 4x. Having raced together at the Brit Champs, Beks Edgar, Emily Walters, Caris Marsh and Annabel Headley took to the water again and had a great race finishing 6th in their category out of 42 entries in a time of 20.31.5. The Pairs head presentation was held at Barnes Bridge Ladies Boat Club on Sunday 19 October. The pots and trophies were presented by Olympic medalist Debbie Flood. Anna, Kat, Laura and Caroline were there to receive their pots and plaques for WB2x and WD2x. Fran Rawlins who used to row for MAABC and now rows for Leander was awarded The Amy Gentry Trophy together with Debbie Flood for the fastest women's double scull. Fran also won this trophy last year. 12 athletes from MAABC raced at Weybridge Silver Sculls on Saturday 18 October and had a very successful day coming away with 5 wins! Anna Ramsden and Katarina Rolfsman won WB2x, with Anna also winning WB1x. Chris Greenhalgh won WC1x. WD2x was won by Caroline Bell-Syer and Laura Campbell which was also the fasters women's double on the day, and to finish it off Caroline also won WD1x! The British Championships in Nottingham was held on one of the windiest weekends of the year. The tail end of Hurricane Gonzalo created some very difficult conditions on both days. On Saturday 18 October Annabel Headley and Emily Walters competed in W2x and came 39th in the time trial, this placed them in the G/H semi final where they came 2nd. They then finished 3rd in the G final. On Sunday Annabel and Emily were joined by Beks Edgar and Caris Marsh to compete in w4x. Four athletes are representing MAABC at the British Championships in Nottingham 18-19 October. Racing against the GB squad and the best crews in the country. Emily Walters and Annabel Headley are competing in W2X in race 102 at 10.05 on Saturday 18th. There are 25 crews in the division. On the night of 5th June 1944, a unit of the British 6th Airborne Division took off from Dorset in gliders to capture Pegasus Bride over the Orne River just north of Caen. The attackers poured out of their gliders surprising the German defenders and took the bridge within 10 minutes.
