The Senior Women’s squad raced at Metropolitan Regatta at Dorney Lake on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd June. Preparations for the Olympic and Paralympic rowing events are well underway at Dorney, and this regatta was one of the last opportunities for club rowers to race on the lake before London 2012 commences.

Conditions were quite challenging at times, with a strong headwind throughout the weekend, but the squad produced some good performances in a variety of different boat classes, including second and fourth places in Women’s Elite Lightweight Single Sculls for Fran Rawlins and Rachel Drayson respectively.

Unfortunately there were no wins to report this time, but a number of crews who will be racing lightweight at Women’s Henley in a couple of weeks’ time were racing in openweight categories at this regatta, and stepped up well to take on some strong opposition.
