Last weekend saw the first head race of the season with over 400 entries attending the Pairs Head.
The womens senior squad was able to be part of a composite crew with PTRC as well as field three other MAABC crews.
The composite crew with Francesca Rawlins (MAABC) and Charlotte Taylor (PTRC) won not only their category of Elite Womens Lightweight 2x, but also took the accolade of Head of the River. A fantastic result for the two of them. Their next challenge together is the British Rowing Championships this coming weekend
The other MAABC crew fought hard and finished very well in their respective races.
The crew of Rebekah Edgar and Caris Marsh finished just four seconds behind this years Womens Henley Senior 2x winners. This is a great result when taking into account how much weight advantage their opposition had over them
The crew of Joy Skipper and Lisa Kallal won their Vet C category convincingly – also beating all the Vet B crews along the way.
The final senior womens crew who entered of Dani Charles and Rachel Drayson finished 5th in their category in what was a strong field this year
The results from the Masters Women were equally impressive, with 3 crew wins from the Masters Squad, taking the Women’s Masters B, C & D 2x pennants.
Jo Gapper & Christina Greenhalgh won the Masters B2x pennant. The other Masters wins included Joy Skipper & Lisa Kallal in WMas C2x and Nicky Dale & Helen Mangan at WMas D2x. A good performance was also had by Laura Campbell & Anna Ramsden who came in 2nd at WMas C2x.
Overall a very strong and positive start to the season from the womens senior squad and this bodes well for a push on to some solid results as the year unfolds
