Captain’s February Blog

After a bit of time off the air waves as we had Christmas and New Year and horrible water.  However painful it must be for all of you, I am back with my ramblings and observations as there is much activity going on at MAABC including some news about mixed crew racing -  firstly, you may have noticed that we are continuing to tidy up the boating area and fleet, we have said goodbye to the Phoebe Mason and that has gone to Putney High School – we will be focusing on the outside racks to tidy up the boats.  [...]

Update on Safety Matters and Role of your new CRSA Alice Jenkinson

Dear Members, I am pleased to inform you that Alice Jenkinson has taken on the role of Club Rowing Safety Adviser (CRSA) commencing 9 November 2016.  Her role is primarily to advise the Captain and the Club Committee on all things affecting safety on the water, so that the right steps can be taken to keep members and other river users safe, and to keep the reputation of our Club on the Tideway intact. Mortlake Veterans training camp – Mimizan, France, May 2014

Quote from coach Ben - “I love working with these girls, who have a really positive attitude. This was a great camp and we now have an excellent base to start the regatta season with". Mortlake and Quintin may share a beach but to date we haven't shared training camps. Quintin’s camps have a reputation for going to scenic places and for providing a mix of serious training with a holiday -  recipe which suits veterans well. And so when we were asked us on this year's trip, which involved flying to Bordeaux and over the early May [...]

As they were the only lightweight crew in the A Final they went into the race already assured of being crowned British Champions and took the [...]
