Henley Town & Visitors provided wins at both WMas D & E doubles for the Masters Women’s squad, continuing their very successful 2013 season. Helen Mangan and Nicky Dale won at WMas D2x, with Alice Poole and Louise Pattison taking the WMas E 2x win. Alice and Louise were competing against an older, WMas F, crew so there was a staggered start, with the MAABC crew being set off behind their opponents. They were undeterred by this, and put in an excellent performance to row through their opponents and win comfortably – this result was the first win for both Alice and Louise, who both learnt to row at MAABC, and they were very proud recipients of elegant “novice” pots!
Racing at Stourport this weekend were Jo Gapper and Chrissie Greenhalgh, who entered both WIM3 2x and WMas B2x on the Saturday as well as the Sunday sprint regatta.
Saturday saw the ladies compete in 5 races, winning IM3 2x but losing the WMas B/C final to a Mas C 2x who got a head start in this handicapped masters event that the MAABC crew was unable to row through. Sunday’s racing proved a little more successful over the sprint course with wins at both IM3 and Mas B. Two very successful but exhausting days for Jo and Chrissie but good practice for the up and coming World Masters Championships in Italy.
